The Boise Rescue Mission has been a valued fixture of Boise society for many years. We wanted to take some time this week to celebrate all they have done for the community and how you can help make their ongoing mission a success. This month (March) they are doing a fantastic event called The March To End Hunger which is a special combination food drive and building competition. You can register a team today in order to participate! The winner gets a recognition via the Mission's social media page and a fantastic golden can trophy to show others that your team went above and beyond in gathering food to help feed those in the area in need.
How Do We Sign Up?
You just need to fill out this registration form here before the last week of March: https://boiserm.org/castle/ Pictures of your creation will need to be sent in before midnight on the 31st of the month to be eligible.
How Are The Castles Judged?
The can creations will be judged on two criteria: the amount of food collected, and the overall creativity of the construction. Judging and voting will take place on the Rescue Mission’s Facebook page. This is an opportunity for your group, business, church, or family to collect cans of food and other non-perishables to help men, women and children in your community.
Ok, The Contest Sounds Great, But Can We Help In Other Ways?
The Boise Rescue Mission is happy to take just about anything you can think of, but mostly they are in need of non-perishable food like canned goods, dried goods, and sealed boxed goods like cereal and pasta. They are always helping people in and around Boise in need, which is part of what makes them so great! Here’s their current donation needs list below:
What Else Does The Boise Rescue Mission Do?
There’s so much to that! They have several locations and services, it’s hard to list them all, but we will go over some of their marquee relief endeavours.
Emergency Shelter And Services
For men and women, they offer immediate assistance to those who need shelter and a hot meal. Both in Boise and Nampa. According to their page on the matter:
Boise Rescue Mission Ministries is committed to caring for every man, woman and child in need across the Treasure Valley, no matter where they are at in life. If someone is homeless or struggling and in need of a hot meal or a safe place to stay, he or she can visit one of our emergency shelters in Boise or Nampa, ID — no prior arrangements are necessary.
Addiction Recovery Programs
Their New Life Discipleship & Recovery Program is designed to help people of all walks of life face their addiction head on and gain the tools they need to be addiction free. It is a program that ranges from 12 to 24 months and will help those in need build a more successful life. Learn more here.
